We are Chloe and Gavin and we run the farm together with our 6 children, Joseph, Anna, Charlotte, Rosie, Eilidh and Morven (the twins!) Balnab is a small traditional dairy farm and we are the 3rd generation of Vances to farm the land in this beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful area of South West Scotland. Our family has been farming at Balnab since 1929.
We have 120 Holstein Friesians that are milked twice a day every day!
Most of the milk from our herd goes to the local creamery to be turned into “seriously strong cheddar cheese”. The reminder of the milk is pasteurised on farm to sell direct to the public.
Our cows graze the rolling Wigtownshire countryside during the Summer months and are housed in the cow barn during Winter.
